2012This Scenic 11-mile Run Will Once Again Celebrate the Life and Times of Alexander Hamilton.
New York, NY (1888PressRelease) July 10, 2012 - On Wednesday July 11, 2012 at 5:00am, inSHAPE Fitness Owner and Head Trainer, Kim Watkins will lead a group of runners on an historic 11-mile route up the middle of Manhattan, from near the southern tip into the northern heights. The run, named after Alexander Hamilton - the architect of the U.S. financial system, comes just seven days after the celebration of Independence Day, and marks the anniversary of the legendary 1804 duel between Hamilton and Aaron Burr, our nation's third Vice President.
Although Hamilton would lose the duel and die the following day, his accomplishments in economic and political theory would live on, as would his memorials in New York City - many of which the fun run route incorporates.
The run will begin at Alexander Hamilton's gravesite at Trinity Church on Wall Street, and continue past a number of notable sites, including Federal Hall, Nassau Street, Tribeca and Central Park. As runners pass the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art, they will stop briefly to pay tribute to the Alexander Hamilton statue before continuing on to the Hamilton Grange National Memorial near City College. Here, the run will conclude at the location of Hamilton's new "country" home at West 141st Street and Convent Avenue.
For nine years, Kim has hosted this memorial run along this distinctive route, and in 2004 was introduced to members of the Hamilton family who've come to expect her presence. "I've always enjoyed July 4th, so I wanted to do something that would continue the celebration of our Founding Fathers beyond just one day", says Watkins of her popular and highly-anticipated annual fitness event.
The Alexander Hamilton fun run is open to the public. All interested are encouraged to contact inSHAPE Fitness for more information or to sign up.

May
2012To Cater to a Wide Variety of Fitness and Health Enthusiasts, inSHAPE Now Offers Yoga Warrior, Boxing, East Hamptons Beach and Central Park Wilderness Boot Camps.
New York, NY (1888PressRelease) May 18, 2012 - With the success of the inSHAPE Fitness Civilized Boot Camp and Moms Boot Camp, inSHAPE expands their class range from Yoga Warrior to Boxing and beyond. inSHAPE started the Civilized and Moms Boot Camp early spring 2012 and since its inception has grown to become a leading Central Park Boot Camp provider in the New York City area.
With the expansion, inSHAPE is delighted to collaborate with professional boxing coach, Roger Grand for a high intensity Boxing Boot Camp. "Roger's philosophy of form, control, and endurance mirror that of inSHAPE. He believes in educating his clients first, then pushing them to and past their limits. It's very impressive," confirms inSHAPE owner, Kim Watkins. Beginners and athletes that are more advanced are welcome but know that there will be high-level compound moves, while punching, with short bouts of rest. Roger brings his "toys," as he calls them, among them jump ropes, medicine balls, cones, and bags. It is non-stop movement. This class is limited to 10 people and lasts about 60 minutes.
In addition, inSHAPE brings in the talented Eastern Movement and Energy Expert, Joslyn Cooke for Yoga Warrior Boot Camp. Joslyn teaches the Tibetan Rites which will increase their energy and vitality in five movements; when mastered, this complete practice can be performed in 10 minutes. inSHAPE 's Yoga Warrior style sessions are a blend of these practices and other yoga traditions, including Kundalini Kriyas, or sets of movements performed rapidly for timed sessions. These low impact moves are surprisingly challenging, but suitable for all.
For the nature lover and hardcore running buff, inSHAPE's new Wilderness Boot Camp is the perfect way to explore the beauty of the northern sector of Central Park, while challenging the participant's ability to run, ascend stairs, negotiate trails, tackle hills, and make small jumps. For this demanding yet tranquil workout, Boot Campers will meet at the corner of Lenox Ave and 110th St, complete a short warm up, and then head up and into the hills. The workout lasts for 55 minutes and consists of running segments with periodic strength movements in between. "Plan to get dirty and have a blast," warns Kim, "but also be prepared to learn more about Central Park than you ever knew existed."
Finally, Hamptons Beach lovers, do not feel left out. inSHAPE's East Hamptons Beach Boot Camp is a wonderful way to start a Saturday morning before enjoying the beauty of the east end. After a short warm up the instructor will guide boot campers through body weight resistance circuits, shuffles and sprints for agility, core work, and yoga poses for relaxation towards the end. "You will feel absolutely fabulous! Your body will get the jolt of energy it needs, with a metabolism boost, strength and agility work, and a breathing and relaxation practice," confirms Watkins.
To learn more about the inSHAPE Fitness Boot Camp classes, visit their website, www.inshape-fitness.com. Single sessions cost $25.00. Deeply discounted prices with the inSHAPE Class Card and unlimited monthly passes are also available.

Clubs inMOTION. A New Corporate Program from inSHAPE Fitness
A Better Game of GolfIntroducing a revolutionary program brought to you by the experts in gym-free functional fitness. Clubs inMotion will change the way you play golf in just four short weeks.
New York, NY (1888PressRelease) April 06, 2012 - Your Expert Instructors:
Trey Gilbert
Titlest Golf Professional, Functional Movement Masters Candidate, & Certified Personal Trainer
Not only does Trey know how to help you swing a golf club, he can help you learn the physical mechanics behind hip rotation, back and core strength, swing power, and follow through. Through Trey's simple, natural teaching style, you will see your game improve immediately.
Joslyn Cooke
Master Yoga Instructor, Golf Trainer
Through her expert ability to help you focus and breathe properly, to her ability to strengthen your body's posture and balance, Joslyn will change the very way you view the game of golf. Her gentle, yet controlled style of flexibility training will carry through from your golf game and into your regular life as well.
The Four Week Program, Week by Week
During each of the four weeks, we deliver two in office sessions. Though the length of time varies slightly in the first and last weeks, appointments generally last 60-minutes and if preferred, can be broken into smaller segments for sub-groups.
Week 1: Getting Started
As an introduction to Clubs inMotion, the team at inSHAPE illustrates how the development of proper posture, deep breathing, focus, and core stability & strength will alter your game forever.
We also engage each member of your team to determine his/her own goals and challenges - this process is conducted through a series of online questionnaires and minimally interferes with other office commitments. During this first week, we also introduce you to strength and flexibility exercises that gently open your body up to a metamorphosis of your golf game. Your instructors work with each participant, making observations regarding posture, position, movement, and concentration.
Week 2: Posture and Strength
During the second week, we continue our work on strength and flexibility, adding second level core stability moves, postural and rotational exercises, and focus training. Participants leave their clubs at home and perform moves using the body as primary resistance, conditioning all major golfing muscles.
Week 3: Strength and Flexibility
This is the week when we bring back in the golf clubs. During our two hour-long sessions this week, we continue our work on core stability and strength. We also continue flexibility training, breathing, and postural work.
Week 4: Practice, Practice, Practice
As we begin to take to the golf course again, it's time to practice, practice, practice. We don't pull you out of the office quite yet, but we do continue to work your core and flexibility, focus, posture, and breathing. We also start the process of evaluating each person's swings. To celebrate four weeks of hard work, we head off to Chelsea Piers for an outing at the driving range.
Clubs inMotion won't elevate you to the pros, but it will change the way you view your game. For a limited time, the golf experts at inSHAPE are offering the introductory first session at NO COST!
