Lose Belly Fat Quick
I can remember that small movie projector and the phonograph record that supplied what we now call audio. All this to show that the ant was wise and would survive the winter and that Jiminy was a fool and would surely die from starvation. I’ve had more than one cricket come into my home in the fall of the year and do just that.
Some folks think that we have to be like Jiminy Cricket to . That is, we have to starve ourselves. Well, we could do that and we would certainly lose weight but that would be no way to treat our body which needs nourishment every day. But what the body needs is proper nourishment.
In the early days before the Europeans conquered North America, the Ute Indians who lived here in the Mountain West, hunted deer and other wild animals and ate nuts and berries. They were extremely strong, never tired, and they were healthy.
Then the Europeans came along, including my great grandparents, and drove them out of their hunting grounds into Indian reservations. There they were supplied white flower and alcohol and weakened to a disease prone situation, lacking the strength to do their normal activities.
Like some of the rest of us, you may see some such Indians eating cheeseburgers and fries at a local fast food joint or perhaps fried chicken or pizza. Conditions have not improved for them and they have deteriorated further with the rest of us.
I fought in Korea with the 17th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. Surgeons performing battlefield surgery noticed that very young men had occluded arteries while in WWII, the arteries were clear. In a short time, the diet of servicemen had changed. I assume it was worse for Vietnam veterans and I can’t imagine what it is like for our present servicemen.
Our children are fed pizza at school and they are fed cheeseburgers and other junk foods. They don’t have a chance. In the evening to avoid cooking dinner, or because there is not enough time to cook it, off the family goes to a fast food joint or a pizza place. The First Lady and others are trying to improve this situation as is the Mayor of New York City.
Poor nutrition in our country is an important factor in our high disease rate and our fast food people are sharing that with the world. Incidently, that is why I don’t want our war-loving race with bad habits to even think about colonizing other planets. It’s good that God spread them out.
So, if you have a ring around the belly instead of a ring around the bathtub, then perhaps you have not been eating properly. Remember that nutrition is all important and that you need to make some decisions on your own as to what is right for you. Don’t expect the government to do it, they have been wrong for years. You need to do some research on nutrition yourself.
If you want to , then you had better be quick to change your nutritional habits. When you get the crap out of your diet you will find that you have more energy, less disease, and a happy, healthy life.

Pot Belly Boosts Risk of Sudden Cardiac Death: Study
A larger waist-to-hip ratio matters even more than body-mass index when it comes to sudden cardiac death risk, said study researcher Dr. Selcuk Adabag, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Body-mass index is a measure of weight relative to height used to determine normal weight and obesity.
Obesity, a moderate risk factor for sudden cardiac death, and apple-shaped bodies often go hand in hand.
"The significance of this study is that it shows that abdominal obesity is an independent risk factor for sudden cardiac death, even after accounting for factors such as diabetes, hypertension and coronary heart disease," said Adabag, who is also a cardiac electrophysiologist at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Adabag was scheduled to present the findings Wednesday at the annual meeting of the Heart Rhythm Society in Boston.
Sudden cardiac death is responsible for more than 250,000 deaths in the United States each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is defined as death that occurs within an hour of initial symptoms. Besides obesity, risk factors include coronary heart disease and heart rhythm problems.
For the study, Adabag looked at the records of more than 15,000 people with an average age of 54 from four U.S. locales who were enrolled in the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study. Over 13 years, more than 300 of the participants experienced sudden cardiac death.
After Adabag took into account age, sex, race, education, smoking status and family history of heart disease, he found that body-mass index, waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio all were linked with sudden cardiac death.

Belly Fat! How Did I Get This Spare Tire?
After Christmas this year I was thinking, how did I get this spare tire? My spare tire didn't just arrive here overnight, it's taken years to accumulate here. Once I got married and started getting older I wasn't as active through sports. Something would always seem to come up, causing me to do chores, projects or being to tired to workout or eat right.
Here's some causes for my spare tire
1...Inactivity...I'm guilty of not working out enough or at all. I feel I'm fairly active with the duties of being a husband, a father and a home owner. The problem for me is to get in proper workouts regularly. As well as to get my heart rate up and sweat more during workouts. This inactivity is causing my bodies metabolism to remain idle.
2....Overeating....At meal times I tend to over eat, even when I'm trying to watch what I eat. Before supper or as I'm preparing supper I'll graze and sample the food. Then when I eat I'm already half full, but I still eat my full diner. Have you ever found yourself with a full stomach after a meal, then you wondered why you eat so much.
When you get older you find yourself eating for comfort. A release from whats going on in your life. The foods you eat are just as important as how much. Skimping on breakfast only to over eat at lunch. Not having healthy snacks in the afternoon and finding yourself starving. Then eating too much at supper time. I have a friend who doesn't eat all day except for a few cups of coffee and maybe a danish. Come supper time he eats a big supper and a few beers. This is usually late a night and then he goes to bed. This is not a healthy practice to maintain.
3....Stress.. today leads to over eating with our busy and hectic lifestyles. When stress is weighing you down your body releases stress hormones, including adrenaline which fires you up and contains Cortisol, which makes you fat. Cortisol is a powerful appetite stimulant. Thus people under stress make more trips to the fridge or cookie jar. Some people can handle stress better than others, resulting in some to secrete less cortisol during peak times. Elevated cortisol levels appear to stimulate growth in fat cells in the abdomen, producing the worst kind of weight gain, the dreaded spare tire around your mid section.
4....Sleep....Today it is estimated that only 25% of people are getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night. This scare's me to think that possibly 3/4 of the people are operating on less than optimal amounts of sleep. Operating on 5-7 hours or less of sleep a night can cause you to develop insulin resistance, which could result in weight gain. Operating on less sleep could explain why you munch on bad snacks. Your brain thinks your running low on energy and will increase your appetite.
5....Eating Processed or Refined Foods....Do you find yourself eating a lot of processed foods(pre packaged snacks,frozen dinners, meats and cheeses just to name a few). Refined foods are just as unhealthy for you. Some of the most popular products refined are flour. Flour is heated and striped of all it's nutrients and then it is bleached. White flour is found in a lot of the foods we eat(bagels,breads,cereals,snacks). These commercially produced foods are very high in simple carbohydrates and very low nutritional value.
Having a spare tire around your midsection is no laughing matter. It is very important to not except"I'm just going to stay fat" or "I'll never lose this weight". If you feel that you are losing your battle with weight loss. You need to think positive and know that you are going to change your situation. In doing so you will have already won half the battle. Remember that fat around your mid section is very serious and has major heart disease risks.
