Losing Weight the South Beach Way

Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I have been struggling with weight loss my entire life. I have gained and lost weight throughout the years doing different things such as low-fat diets, no carb diets, diet pills, diet teas and so on and so forth. While these methods worked for a while, I eventually gained all of the weight back.

I have to say that for a short while, I did keep the weight off, until I gave birth to my four year old son. I managed to gain approximately 40 pounds during my pregnancy. My excuse back then was that I was 40 years old and losing weight at 40 is harder than when you are in your twenties.

Once again, I was working out to no avail, drinking diet teas and trying old diets that worked when I was younger. I was beginning to get depressed with the weight gain. At this point, I decided that the best thing I could do was accept that this was the way I would probably look for the rest of my life.

Then, a co-worker of mine decided she wanted to lose weight before her wedding. She introduced me to the South Beach Diet.

The one thing that I should point out is that according to the author, you can lose weight even without exercise. Exercising will increase the number of pounds you can lose, but is not necessary to see results. I tested this out, and did indeed lose weight after I stopped exercising (not that I am suggesting you should not exercise); but thought I would share that piece of information.

Another fun fact that I learned from the book was that fiber taken 15 minutes before a meal, lowered your blood sugar level. This is something to be mindful of if you're eating too many carbs in a day. The theory behind the South Beach diet is that too many bad carbs will cause a surge in your blood sugar level, causing you to gain weight.

So what I would do, fifteen minutes before eating a food such as rice, is to drink a teaspoonful of Metamucil (sugar free) with water 15 minutes before having the rice. As a result, this would lower the amount of carbs in that food. Pretty neat huh!!!! Again, you do not have to do this, this is just a tip that offered by the author.

As a result of learning everything I needed to know and completing all of the phases as outlined in the book, I lost the 40 pounds and continue to drop weight (without trying).

Needless to say, my co-worker who simply searched for the basic information over the Internet is still struggling to lose the weight. P.S. she has been on phase 1 for four months and hit a plateau after the first month.

I think that the most important thing to point out is that I continue to eat healthy and LOVE everything that I consume. Even after I reached my goal, I am still losing a pound a week. I think that's huge considering that I was struggling prior to this

The Simple Guide to Eating Clean And Losing Weight

you will find that most gyms will have classes. This is the best way to ensure that you work hard during your time at the gym. Get yourself along to a cardio or spin class. I personally like boxing classes, you work super hard, it doesn't feel like hard work, and you can release the stresses of the day!

Drink Plenty of Water and Supplement Your Diet

This goes without saying! Make sure you’re drinking enough water, but don’t drink too much. You want your urine to still have colour. The aim is for your urine to look like Chardonnay! If it’s clear, then you are likely drinking too much water and over-working your kidneys! Fish Oil tablets are definitely a supplement you can’t miss out on! I also take Vitamin D, E, Magnesium, Zinc and Chromium. Make sure you do your research before taking any supplements as pre-existing conditions might not allow you to take them.

This has pretty much scratched the surface on clean eating, there is so much more to learn. But the basics will give you a pretty good start on some changes to make in your life immediately. Remember that every little change you make will take you one step closer to living a clean and healthy lifestyle.

Final Phase Fat Loss Review ? Losing Fat The Right Way

June 22, 2012 by admin

The Final Phase Fat Loss teaches anyone who is willing to listen the most effective and safe way to lose weight, and even more important than weight is fat loss. It is seriously unlike other programs because while other programs get you losing your first 5, 10, 15 and 20 pounds, this program takes you losing the last weight that is proving difficult to get rid of.

When other programs get you frustrated because their techniques cannot get you losing the stubborn fat, this is the program to get you very happy that you get to lose the last bit of fat that you are struggling to shed.

It is a six week program and in that six weeks you get to learn the valuable ways in which you are supposed to work out to get mad results for your efforts.

I love the intensity of the workouts, and more importantly how short they are because my time is precious, so I would rather get results in a shorter time frame.

The creator who is John Romaniello understands that one needs to do more than cardio to have the kind of body transformation that most people only dream about. That is why he focuses on strength training more because it gets people the results that they need, especially because it burns calories and boosts metabolism in such a way that the calories are still being burned after the exercising is over.

The Final Phase Fat Loss is a complete program that brings everything that you need to get the body that you need, not just from what you read but also pictures that show you exactly what you need to do.

The tracking sheets and the workout sheets will ensure that you stay on track with your exercises, while ensuring that you are doing it how it is illustrated in the program, which is what will give you the results.

There are also numerous workout sheets, and tracking sheets that will help you stick to the program and do it right.

There is no point in doing something your way, when the program is effective when done the way it is designed.

Losing Weight Can Prevent and Cure Type 2 Diabetes

Gaining weight is highly stressful to your body.  Sooner or later it is likely to break down in response to the stress and “give up” trying to cope with the abuse.  Western Medicine marks such a tipping point with the label type 2 diabetes, which essentially means your ability to regulate blood sugar is more or less broken.  In reality, it was heading that direction as your fasting blood sugar elevates above 90.  A new study shows that taking off a significant chunk of weight over a two-year period can reverse the diabetes and/or prevent it, even if you still have more weight to lose.

This new study is consistent with my clinical observations.  Many people following the Leptin Diet and actually engaging the process of weight loss have no trouble ridding themselves of type 2 diabetes.  Emphasis needs to be placed on the phrase “engaging the process of weight loss.”  While it is my belief, based on considerable science, that the Leptin Diet is the most effective and safest way to lose weight over the long haul, losing weight in any manner seems to be of benefit.

It is also important to understand that you do not need to reach a goal weight to prevent or reverse type 2 diabetes.  While it is important for your own personal metabolic health that you do reach an appropriate goal weight sooner or later, this is not required for most people in order to prevent or reverse type 2 diabetes.  In other words, if you can simply get your body going in the right direction and take off a significant chunk of weight, then you have created a metabolic environment within your body that is far less likely to have or develop type 2 diabetes.  All you have to do is keep consistently moving in the right direction.

This is very encouraging because it means you do not have to be perfect before you experience a lot of health benefits that prevent disease.

Researchers used BMI Body Mass Index. BMI is a statistical measurement of body weight based on the person's height and weight. It does not actually measure the body fat percentage but provides an estimation of a healthy body weight. Normal BMI for adults ranges from 18.5-24.9 (body mass index) to predict obesity in patients.  BMI Body Mass Index. Losing weight when obese can prevent or cure diabetes, whatever the initial BMI, study suggests

ScienceDaily (May 6, 2012) — Lowering your BMI by five units can dramatically reduce your risk of diabetes, whatever your initial weight, says new research presented at the International Congress of Endocrinology/European Congress of Endocrinology in Florence, Italy. The findings show that even severely obese patients with diabetes can potentially rid themselves of the disease.

Addressing diabetes is a major priority for health providers worldwide given the vast global prevalence (approx. six to seven per cent of the world's population; around 285 million people) and its severe complications including amputations and heart disease. Surgery for weight loss has an unexpectedly rapid and substantial therapeutic effect on diabetes rates. Understanding why weight loss has such a dramatic effect on diabetes is the focus of this study by Associate Professor Markku Peltonen from the National Institute for Health and Welfare, Finland and colleagues from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

The researchers enrolled the 2010 patients from the Swedish Obese Subjects study who had received bariatric surgery and 2037 obese controls receiving conventional (non-surgical) obesity treatment. They were assessed for BMI and diabetes at baseline (before surgery in the surgical group), and at two and 10 year follow-up.

Among patients with BMI<35, 35-40 and 40-45 who did not lose weight after two years, type 2 diabetes incidence rates were 6.5%, 7.7% and 9.3% respectively. Among those with initial BMI 35-40, 40-45 and ≥45 who lost at least five BMI units after two years, type 2 diabetes incidence rates were 2.4%, 2.0% and 3.4% respectively, clearly showing that lower rates of diabetes can be found among obese patients who have lost five BMI units through any means. Further analysis showed that the rate of patients cured of diabetes after losing five BMI units was independent of the starting BMI at all BMI levels measured. This trend was also observed after 10 years post surgery.

The findings suggest that losing five BMI units, the equivalent of approx. 16kg for a 180cm tall 35 year old man weighing 130kg (BMI 40), can make a real difference to your health by reducing your likelihood of having type 2 diabetes. Furthermore, it suggests that this is true for all patients, as even those who were severely obese showed dramatic improvements.

Associate Professor Markku Peltonen, Director of Department at the National Institute for Health and Welfare, Finland, said:

"Our findings show that, whatever your starting weight, losing five BMI units can dramatically reduce your risk of having type 2 diabetes after two and ten years.

"Dropping five BMI units is no mean feat, as the human body is not very good at losing weight. But patients of any weight should take encouragement that by doing so they can really improve their chances of a healthy future."
