To those with scant eyebrows, it is very important to know if eyelashes grow again. It is a common problem among women. Generally the hair on the eyelashes intermittently falls off and is replaced by new ones replacing the old follicles. But with age the re-growth process becomes slower. This is a routine old age problem.

However, in some cases women lose eyelashes in clumps which normally do not grow back. Sudden such happening leaves the affected person in a confused state. Autoimmune disease usually results in heavy loss of eyelashes and dermatologists generally prescribe cortisone to prevent damages to hair follicle. At times, such loss may also be attributed to hypothyroid.

To prevent such occurrences, medicines are prescribed to limit the spread of this disease and alleviate appearance of scarce eyelashes. What is the standard time frame for the eyelashes to grow back? Afflicted women desperately seek answer to this query.

Physicians point out a span of four to eight weeks as the normal duration for the re-growth of eyelashes.

There are certain steps everybody can take to prevent this situation of falling eyelashes suddenly arising. It is best not to regularly use eyelash curlers or pull and play with the lashes. This causes the hair to break and all. Thus the re-growth factor depends upon how long the individual plays around with curlers, uses mascara or tweaks the hair.

Physicians recommend women to use eyelash curlers less frequently and restrict their usage only for exclusive occasions and restrict their use of mascara which should be only applied by the wand. Such type of application prevents eyelash shedding and guarantees re-growth of eyelashes.

Scientific research indicates that warm climatic condition hastens the process of hair follicle growth.

The hair cycle on the scalp is much slower than that of eyelashes. It takes few months to grow back. The growth of eyelash hair is not a continuous process. There is a limit to the re-growth process. In young persons the pace is faster than that of the seniors. The medical fraternity has another suggestion to make that is effective eyelash transplant with the help of surgery.
